24O Lord GOD, You have begun to show Your servant Your greatness and Your mighty hand, for what god is there in heaven or on earth who can do anything like Your works and Your mighty deeds? (Deu 3:24)
What are the consequences of having a wrong image of God?
Fear & anxiety because we've to depend completely on ourself!
We become slaves to what others thinks of us!!
Lk 11:21 "When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace.11:22 "But when a stronger than he comes upon him and overcomes him, he takes from him all his armor in which he trusted, and divides his spoils.11:23 "He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters.
failure to preserver -> prayer without faith, service without passion/joy, suffering without hope!
How do we imagine God?
Do not be afraid -> 365 times?!
How can our image of the Lord be affected?
When Jethro, Moses' father-in-law heard what the Lord has done for them:
Exo 18:10-11 10And Jethro said, "Blessed be the LORD, who has delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians and out of the hand of Pharaoh, and who has delivered the people from under the hand of the Egyptians. 11 "Now I know that the LORD is greater than all the gods; for in the very thing in which they behaved proudly, He was above them."
Can we limit the Lord’s strength by our imagination?
Jesus in Nazareth:
Mk 6:5-6 5Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. 6 And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching.
How can we change our perspective?
Zech 4:6-7 6So he answered and said to me: "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' Says the LORD of hosts. 7 Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain! And he shall bring forth the capstone With shouts of "Grace, grace to it!" "
We can do even greater things than Jesus!
Jn 14:12 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.
Renewing of our mind – is the key!
Why do God insist on Worship?
Without worship, our experience with God is not complete, we can't enjoy Him in fullness
In worship we declare that God is real! We reflect on what He has done for us and redefine the reality projected by the society!
David sung:
1 Chro 16:28-29 28Give to the LORD, O families of the peoples, Give to the LORD glory and strength. 29 Give to the LORD the glory due His name; Bring an offering, and come before Him. Oh, worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness!
Mary said: "My soul Magnifies the Lord!" (Lk 1:46)
Worship expands our capacity to understand and experience God!
Solomon said:
2 Chro 2:5-6 5And the temple which I build will be great, for our God is greater than all gods. 6 But who is able to build Him a temple, since heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain Him? Who am I then, that I should build Him a temple, except to burn sacrifice before Him?
We're the temple!
1 Cor 3:16-17 16Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
3:17 If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.
