Bible Message/Preaching : The Heart of Worship
23"But the hour is coming, and now is, when the TRUE worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.
24"God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.
(Jn 4:23-24)
What does it comes to our mind when we hear the word worship?
We were planned for God's pleasure: Bringing pleasure to God is called Worship Ps 149:4 For the LORD takes pleasure in His people;
What is Worship?
147:1 Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our God; For it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful.
147:11 The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear Him, In those who hope in His mercy.
Worship is more than music - song: heart of Worship!
Worship is not for our benefit
Worship is not just part of our life, its our whole life!
Is 29:13 Therefore the LORD said: "Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths And honor Me with their lips, But have removed their hearts far from Me, And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men,
1 Cor 10:31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. Col 3:22 Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God. 3:23 And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, 3:24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.
Mt 22:35 Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, 36"Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?" 37Jesus said to him, " You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' 38"This is the first and great commandment. 39"And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' 40"On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."
4"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one! 5"You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. (Deu 6:4-5)
Love Him above everything else
Trust Him more than all others
Obey Him wholeheartedly
Ps 14:2 The LORD looks down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there are any who understand, who seek God
Heart of Worship is Surrender
Rom 6:13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
6:18 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness.
Rom 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.
12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Fear, Pride & confussion prevents us
Like Jesus who submitted wholeheartedly ->
Mk 14:36 And He said, "Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will."
Lk 9:23 Then He said to them all, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. 9:24 "For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. 9:25 "For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? 9:26 "For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father's, and of the holy angels.
